Small business owners were briefed on the government’s plans to boost their fortunes at a meeting in Chonburi.
Industry Minister Utama Savanayon chaired the Aug. 9 meeting at Tassana Garden in Muang District.
He said the government’s Thailand 4.0 strategy places small- and medium-sized enterprises in a central role in developing the economy. So far, the ministry has begun opening industry transformation centers, reinforcing innovation and technology and preparing SMEs for the new business world.
Going forward, the government has prepared four initiatives tied to the Eastern Economic Corridor project aimed at SMEs: Development of green automation in medical equipment and tools, and rubber production; processing industry management; and aviation.
Aviation, he said, will be the best opportunities for SMEs with the expansion of U-Tapao-Rayong-Pattaya Airport.
