Tesco-Lotus to back Thai fruit & vegetable exports

BANGKOK, 9 July 2014 – Tesco-Lotus, which is well known in Thailand for its chain of hypermarkets, has announced that it will support exports of the nation’s fruit and vegetables, after it successfully exported canned food and animal food to its more than 6,500 branches across the United Kingdom, the Central European Union and elsewhere in Asia. 

The comment was made by Miss Salilla Seehaphan, Vice Chairman of the Company’s Affairs Division of the Akekachai Distribution System Co. Ltd., the supervising company of the Tesco-Lotus hypermarket franchise in Thailand. She is confident that Tesco’s exports will expand at least 15% this year, reporting that the value of last year’s exports was 3.2 billion baht

Miss Salilla stated Tesco-Lotus had contributed tremendously to the kingdom’s economic development, adding that the company had exported various items such as seasonal fruit, seafood, canned food, animal food, toys and stationary to its affiliated stores in 12 nations around the globe.
