BANGKOK, 14 October 2013 Eight years after the previous meeting was held, Thailand and Singapore have jointly held the 3rd meeting on close economic cooperation, during which the two countries discussed benefits of a single market and production base under the ASEN Economic Community (AEC).

The meeting, attended by the Thai commerce minister and his Singaporean counterpart, was aimed at increasing trade and investment opportunities. The two parties also developed cooperation in many fields, including agricultural products and food, cruising, infrastructure, ICT and trade facilitation.

The meeting delegates expressed hope that the Thai-Singaporean cooperation would help boost their competitiveness in the AEC, where ASEAN will turn into a single market and production base. According to them, Thailand’s potential on production and agricultural exports and Singapore’s expertise in marketing and product distribution would be the keys to the success of the cooperation.
