BANGKOK, 21 April 2011-Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Mr. Chatchai Bunyarat said the government should support Thais who earned less than 20,000 THB due to rising product prices.

He also suggested that the prohibition on product hoarding be emphasized rather than relying on price intervention strategy on farm produce to keep the prices down.

Mr. Chatchai stated that while global demand for food was on the rise, it was also a good opportunity for Thailand’s export sector. Meanwhile, he said the rise in farm product prices only happened seasonally. Moreover, the Vice Chairman said only struggling employees earning less than 20,000 baht a month should be assisted.
