BANGKOK, 19 July 2012 – The Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) is organizing a seminar with an aim to prepare Thai SMEs for the upcoming establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
According to Director of the DIP’s Bureau of Industrial Management Development Mr. Manop Chivatanasoontorn, the seminar entitled ‘SMEs Roadmap’ is being held until tomorrow. The objective is to increase the know-how related to business management for SME owners in order to help develop their businesses towards the global standard.
He explained that most Thai businesses are run by a family-based system and do not follow the international business model, which often deprives them of new opportunities on the global stage.
‘SMEs Roadmap’, according to Mr. Manop, is an active approach to promote business penetration into other regions when the AEC finally takes shape in 2015. The focus is placed on an effective business management system, which covers such areas as marketing and production.
The seminar also allows attendants to learn from experts, who will share with them the strategy to prep themselves for the AEC. Up to 180 SME operators are expected to participate in the event. For more information, please contact the DIP at telephone number 02-202-4402 or visit www.dip.go.th.
