BANGKOK, 20 May 2013 – The Thai trade representative to New York has expressed confidence that the country’s exports to the US will grow at a projected rate in 2013 due to an economic recovery in the world’s no.1 economy.
Executive Director of Thai Trade Center in New York, USA, Somjin Plengkhum said on Monday that Thai exports to the US expanded 2.6% in the first quarter of 2013, from a year earlier.
Mrs. Somjin stated that the trade growth shows the US has been on its path to recovery, thanks to the economic stimulus package, which helped push the country’s unemployment rate down from 7.5 percent to 7.0 percent while driving the economy to grow 2 percent as predicted.
