BANGKOK, 3 January 2013 Thailand’s satellite operator Thaicom has agreed on the sale of iPSTAR bandwith in China to Hong Kong-based Synertone Communication.

After the agreement has been made between the 2 sides, the deal will allow Synertone to be a sole provider of iPSTAR services in China. The 2 companies will also be sharing revenues from the bandwidth sales in China, which accounts for 24 percent of the total capacity of the iPSTAR.

According to Thaicom Chief Executive Officer Suphajee Suthumpun, the agreement will open up opportunities for iPSTAR bandwidth to be used by both the government and private sectors in various aspects. Thaicom will also take an equity stake in the Synertone Communication to strengthen its position in the Chinese market.

The CEO said this move would help the 2 companies go beyond their break-even points.
