BANGKOK, 3 August 2011 – Thailand Post will launch a special stamp collection featuring the ‘Likae’ traditional play on 4 August 2011 to mark the opening of the 17th Thailand Philatelic Exhibition, or Thaipex 2011, at Siam Paragon Shopping Complex.
According to Thailand Post President Anusra Jitmitraparp, the national stamp exhibition is arranged biennially. Likae, which has long history and remains popular in the Thai society, is selected to be the main theme of the event this year.
Special collectible stamps featuring Likae performances will be sold in the Thaipex. Thailand Post also prepares other series of stamps featuring different native dances provided in special packages exclusively in the Thaipex 2011.
Visitors to the event will also have opportunities to see displays of precious, rare or award winning stamp collections by professional stamp collectors. Stamp collectors will also enjoy shopping in the stamp market where both Thai and foreign stamps will be available.
Activities for children will be provided including classes to learn about stamps as well as how to search, collect and arrange stamps for competition. Interested young participants can book for seats in advance prior to the training.
Other highlights of the event are live performances of Likae by famous Likae performers from nationwide who will show off their talented artistic Likae skills in this exhibition. This will be the first time that Likae is performed in the Siam Paragon Shopping Complex.
