BANGKOK, 30 May 2014 – The Thai National Shippers Council (TNSC) was confident that Thailand’s export would grow by 3% this year.
TNSC Deputy President Wallop Vitanakorn revealed that Thai exports have shrunk by 0.87 percent in April and decreased by 0.97 percent during the first four months of 2014. Nonetheless, he believes that the political situation has had relatively little impact on the export sector and remains confident that Thai exports would recover during the later half of the year.
However, Mr. Wallop has urged the government and the private sector to carefully inform related stakeholders about Thailand’s political situation in order to restore their confidence and foster export growth in the long run.
