Visitors who wear traditional Thai costumes to the Pattaya Floating Market this month will get a free boat tour as the tourist attraction promotes historical culture as seen on a popular television program.
Marketing and Sales Manager Pennapa Phanyingyok said the market has patterned its promotion after the show “Buppaysanniwad”, or “Destiny”, which focuses on places of historic and culture value around Thailand. Places promoted on the show, such as Chaiwattanarang Temple in Ayutthaya, have seen massive increases in visitors. The central Thai wat saw its tourist numbers increase from about 1,000 per day to more than 6,000.
Many of the vendors will be dressed in traditional male and female dress during March and Thais or foreigners who visit the floating market in costume will get a boat tour of the complex, a 200-baht value, free.
Pennapa noted the floating market also has stalls that rent Thai costumes for special events.
