BANGKOK, 1 June 2012 -The World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia is reportedly supporting sustainable consumption and green investments.

Foreign investors participating in the WEF this year have all agreed that the ASEAN community needs to instill sustainable consumption in its citizens to prepare them for a change in the global environment in the next 20 years.

The meeting also agreed to promote green investments and encouraged WEF members to embrace and apply an environmentally friendly approach in conducting their businesses.

Consumers should be made aware of the importance of environment via social networks and other means. The panel concluded, however, that it will take time for consumers to fully comply and accept the new approach. It said also that the government should promote technological investments to help reduce the cost for businesses.
