BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand has launched the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” campaign, with activities, events, and grand festivities to be held throughout the year to attract both local and international tourists.

In 2024, Thailand welcomed 35.5 million foreign visitors, exceeding the set target set by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The country earned 2.6 trillion baht in revenue from both domestic and international tourism. In 2025, Thailand is targeting 40 million foreign visitors and aims to generate 2.8 trillion baht in tourism revenue from both domestic and international tourists.

As part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 campaign, TAT has planned a grand Chinese New Year celebration, which will begin in January and will continue until February. The event also sims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations in 2025.

An activity will be held on 23 January, when Thailand’s marriage equality law takes effect, allowing same-sex couples to register their marriages at any district office across the country.



The 2025 MotoGP season at the Thailand Grand Prix will run from 28 February to 2 March at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram Province. Later, on 16-17 March, the World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony will take place in the ancient capital of Ayutthaya.

Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year festival, will be celebrated nationwide from 11 to 15 April. The Music and Mutelu Festival with cultural activities will be held in May. In June, an event will be held to celebrate “Pride Month,” as Thailand is moving toward becoming a top “LGBTQ+ Friendly Destination.” (PRD)
