The Thai government will arrange four special flights to bring about 1,000 Thai nationals home from Egypt next month.
Government spokeswoman, Narumon Pinyosinwat said currently, there are 4,137 Thai people in Egypt.
The prime minister followed up on the situation of Thai nationals in Egypt and ordered agencies concerned to assist them, she said.
Two repatriation flights, arranged on May 8 and June 9 carried 410 Thai people back home while 690 others, who wish to return home have registered with the Thai embassy.
The spokeswoman said four more flights are scheduled on July 3,8,17 and 24. Each flight can carry around 250 passengers.
Moreover, she said a Line group chat application, joined by doctors and public health officials was created for Thai people to get medical advice through online service.
The embassy said last week, 38 Thais in Egypt were found to have been infected with Covid-19.
It has arranged medical consultation via video conference for Thai nationals, including students. (TNA)
