Chonburi – The governor of Chonburi Province, Phakkharathon Thianchai, inspected two piers in the province on Sunday to ensure safety for boat passengers during the Songkran Festival.

The governor, his deputy and chiefs of relevant government agencies in the province met with officers who are manning boat safety centers at the two piers from 11-17 April. The two piers are Charin Pier, a temporary pier for boats operating between Si Racha and Si Chang Island, and the southern Pattaya Pier at Bali Hai.

The governor instructed the officers to enforce regulations with all ferries to make sure that the boats and their skippers are in good condition. Overloading is strictly prohibited and all passenger boats must operate on their designated routes.
