Khon Kaen – Thailand’s Livestock Department has declared Pueai Noi district of Khon Kaen province a rabies-red zone after another cow was killed by the virus.

Khon Kaen livestock official Chanprasert Polsa and his team examined the dead cow on Tuesday. The owner said the cow had been bitten by a dog before it began exhibiting erratic behavior and died two days later. Previously, 3 other cows were killed by the virus in the same area.

The officials also visited other homes in the district to vaccinate a total of 72 domesticated animals, including dogs and cats, to prevent more infections.

Due to the rising number of rabies cases, Pueai Noi district has been declared a temporary rabies red zone.
