Khon Kaen – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has advised people to take precautions after tropical storms have wreaked havoc in many areas of the country this week.
The DDPM said, since Friday, at least 892 homes in 19 provinces have been wrecked by summer storms. Local authorities nationwide are on high alert to assist people until the situation returns to normal.
People have been urged to monitor weather forecasts daily in order to prepare for an emergency situation. They’ve also been advised not to use cell phones outdoors during a storm because doing so may trigger a lightning strike.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that tropical storms are likely to last until Wednesday at least.
