UTHAI THANI, Nov 29 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand and authorities of Uthai Thani province have invited tourists to a fair to celebrate the World Heritage status of the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary on Dec 1-9.
Uthai Thani governor Narong Rakroi said the celebrative event was set at the compound of the Ban Rai district office to remember the World Heritage listing of Huai Kha Khaeng and Thungyai Naresuan wildlife sanctuaries by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization on Dec 13, 1991.
The listing resulted from the pristine conditions of the sanctuaries including their thick forests that were catchment areas and their biodiversity. The cabinet declared Dec 9 the Huai Kha Khaeng-Thungyai Naresuan Heritage Day, Mr Narong said.
The fair will include running and cycling events, cowboy night activities, a concert, an exhibition on environmental conservation and related cultures, environmental campaign processions, cultural and lifestyle shows and outstanding products of Ban Rai district. (TNA)
