Tattoo enthusiasts and artists converged on the Hard Rock Hotel as the International Tattoo Festival returned to Pattaya.
Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh, Thani Vacharapornsophon, managing director of AIM Global Services Co., and Mark August, owner of Bloodline, opened the Aug. 24-25 show intended to drive low season tourism and raise Thai tattoo artists to international standards.
Last held in 2011, the show featured 38 booths offering tattoo and body art supplies and tattooing, as well as a lecture on body-inking hygiene from Bussapha Songsakulchai of the Pattaya Public Health Department.

“Thais still look at tattoo artists, and those with tattoos on their bodies, in a negative light,” noted Suchart Suksaen, president of Pattaya Tattoo Club. “At this point, I urge people to open their hearts and change their attitudes since a tattoo artist earns quite well and will also help promote tourism.”
