It was as much about how you looked as where you finished as 2,000 skimpily clad runners set out for the third Pattaya Bikini Beach Race.
Chonburi Tourism and Sports Director Tavorn Wattanakul kicked off the May 19 race at Central Festival Pattaya Beach with local government officials, business leaders and sponsors.
The race was intended to drive tourism by putting lots of skin on display while also promoting exercise.
Three- and nine-kilometer races were held, both traveling back and forth along Beach Road between Central Festival and the Dusit Thani Hotel.
Those watching also were entertained by emcee Kapol “Pong” Thongplub and minor Japanese actresses race queens Rina Komatsu, Nana Oshima and Ayaka Sakurai.
The winners of each race were: Men’s & Women’s Bikini Race 3K: Thanakorn Ketprayun and Kanokphan Suansan. Men’s Bikini Race 9K Viadislav Demianov, Saman Kewkaew and Pojanavej Changwichien. Open 9K -–Tanwarath Kamjing, Pacharapol Charoenpak and Anan Phromsenee. Best Costumes – Worananthorn Ditthasomboon and Jidapa Luangchokeamnuay. Best Figures– Watchara Jienpaitoon and Pawintra Sittanon.
