Children with special needs enchanted by traditional Thai puppet show

A boy is greeted by a charming puppet lady dressed in a traditional Thai costume.

The Mae Nai Silpatham Puppet Theater brought smiles to kids at the Khru Boonchu Home for Children with Special Needs in Sattahip with a year-end show.
Puppet show owner Warathaya Wiwatanan and more than 20 team members delighted the 235 children Dec. 21 with a full-scale show.



The troupe also treated the kids to lunch, including snacks and ice cream, and delivered much-needed supplies to the school.
Warathaya said that the puppet show was performed to entertain children with the purpose to passing on Thai cultural arts to the next generation.



The Mae Nai Silpatham Puppet Theater next plans to host a free Thai “Khon” masked-dancing lessons and shows on Children’s Day in January.

Nang Sida from the Ramayana legend, touches a boy’s forehead and blesses him.
