BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is set to experience another cold spell as a strong high-pressure system from China extends over the country and the South China Sea from January 10-13. This will result in a temperature drop accompanied by strong winds in several regions.
In the North and Northeast, temperatures are expected to decrease by 5-7°C, while the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and Upper South, will see a drop of 2-5°C. Residents in these areas are advised to stay warm and take precautions against potential fire hazards due to dry and windy conditions.
The strengthened northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and the South will bring increased rainfall, with heavy rain expected in some parts of the southern region. The Gulf of Thailand will experience strong winds and waves of 2-4 meters, and over 4 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the Andaman Sea will see waves of 1-2 meters, with heights exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm zones and offshore areas.
Residents along the eastern coast of the South should be cautious of waves striking the shore. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are urged to navigate carefully and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the Gulf are advised to remain ashore during this period.
Stay updated with weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during these changing weather conditions.
