The funeral and cremation ceremony for longtime resident and Pattaya legend Stephen Foster Beard was held at the Wat Kao Pho Thong overlooking Lake Mabprachan. Crowds of his friends, family, golf partners, and those who had known Stephen for the many years that he called Pattaya his home attended the solemn event.

Old friends reunited and shared stories of their interactions with Stephen and his various business endeavours in our fine city, as well as his interaction with the various clubs that he either started or joined up with. These included the PDRH3 and the PH3, and his major involvement with creating the IPGC Golf Society which will surely miss his contribution to their success in and around the many golf courses close to Pattaya.

Mark Gorda remembers tales of Stephen and his trials and tribulations of dealing with business in Pattaya as he reads his eulogy.

Stephen was also instrumental in the continuing success and public recognition of the Baan Jing Jai home for orphaned and abandoned children in the Pattaya area.

Although it was a subdued day, we were all able to reach out and remember tales of Stephen and his trials and tribulations of dealing with business in Pattaya, and how he was able to overcome most of them.

His move from Soi 13 to Soi Lenkee, combined with the mandated closure of most restaurants and hotels in Pattaya, was the final blow, which proved too much for Stephen, the outgoing and welcoming personable man that he was.

Stephen is now at peace and I am sure that he is upstairs playing golf and draining those 20 footers.

From all of us here on earth, we miss you, we are glad that you are now pain and worry free, and we know in our hearts that you will always hit the fairways and the greens in regulation.

And then make the putts.

Rest in Peace my friend.

R.I.P. Stephen Foster Beard.
