PATTAYA, Thailand – Narongwit Chotchoy, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, announced an exciting opportunity for visitors and the general public to participate in naming the zoo’s newest member, a female baby zebra. The zebra, born on November 6, 2024, to a 6-year-old mother zebra and an 8-year-old father zebra, is currently in good health. However, the zoo has yet to assign a name to the young zebra, and they are inviting the public to help.

Two name options have been put forward: “Ma Ho” or “Lai Thai.” Participants can vote through the zoo’s official Facebook page via a link to a Google Forms survey (https://forms.gle/j39RStk3WgvgUWDH8).

Voting will be open until March 15, at 4:30 PM. As a thank you for their participation, those who cast their votes will be entered into a draw to win one of three 16-inch “Moo Deng” plush toys and one of ten “One Ticket, Visit Everywhere” cards.

The winner, selected based on the most popular name, will be announced on March 30, through the Khao Kheow Open Zoo’s Facebook page.

The young zebra is being carefully monitored by the zoo’s veterinarians, with both the mother and baby showing excellent health. The mother zebra is actively nursing and looking after her calf. The zoo currently has a herd of four zebras, including the newborn, and visitors can visit the African Animal Exhibit at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi to see the adorable new addition in person.
