PATTAYA, Thailand – Nongprue Temple in east Pattaya is holding annual ceremony of the “Luang Phor Chang Gold Leaf Ceremony” which is a cherished tradition of the local Buddhist community, and will continue through February 12.
Hundreds of local devotees gathered to participate in this spiritually significant occasion.
During the ceremony, Phra Kru Pipitkijjarak, the Abbot of Nongprue Temple, welcomed guests, including the local community, who came to pay homage and offer their blessings. The event began with a Buddhist prayer conducted by nine monks for the well-being and prosperity of attendees. The faithful then made offerings to the monks, followed by the monks bestowing blessings on all participants.
Mayor Winai Inphithak officially opened the event and provided a detailed history of the temple, explaining the origins of Luang Phor Chang. The statue, which symbolizes courage and faith, is believed to be of a warrior monk who served under King Taksin the Great during a military campaign. The temple has long been a center of faith and community in Nongprue, and in 1970, it was renovated to serve the spiritual needs of the region.
The ceremony serves not only as a religious gathering but also as a fundraising effort for the Nongprue Child Development Center, with proceeds helping support educational activities for local children.
