The City of Pattaya aims to become a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the field of film.

The Pattaya Film Festival 2024 is scheduled on 21-25 August, held in various venues in Pattaya, such as Central Marina shopping mall, Terminal 21 shopping mall, Burapha University, and Pattaya Redemptorist Technological College for People with Disabilities. As part of the project to promote Pattaya as a “City of Film” and a location for film shooting, the second edition of the Pattaya Film Festival features various activities, such as film screenings, a film competition, the workshop “Documentary Pitch 2024,” a film trip taking visitors to film shoot locations, and seminars.

The City of Pattaya aims to become a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the field of film. Toward this aim, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2022 with 12 organizations to drive Pattaya to become a City of Film under the UCCN and promote the city as a hub of the film industry, in accordance with the Pattaya City Development Plan (2022-2027).

Apart from promoting tourism through film activities and continuing to push for Pattaya to be named a UNESCO City of Film, the City of Pattaya also intends to create wider awareness of the issue and encourage the participation of local communities and people, as well as those involved in the film industry. This effort will also help stimulate investment, generate employment for local communities, and drive the country’s economic growth. (PRD)
