PATTAYA, Thailand – The Meteorological Department reports that Northern, Northeastern, and Central Thailand continue to experience cool to cold weather with morning fog, while mountaintops remain very cold with occasional frost.

The Eastern, Upper Southern regions, Bangkok, and surrounding areas are also experiencing cool mornings. Residents are advised to stay warm and exercise caution due to dry conditions, which increase fire risks, and fog, which could affect visibility.

The cool weather is caused by a moderate high-pressure system covering Upper Thailand and the South China Sea. Meanwhile, the weakening northeastern monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea has reduced rainfall in the lower South, with moderate waves expected in the Gulf and Andaman Sea.

Waves in the lower Gulf are around 2 meters high, rising higher during thunderstorms, while upper Gulf waves range from 1–2 meters. Mariners are urged to navigate cautiously and avoid stormy areas.

Air pollution levels remain a concern due to poor air circulation, weak winds, and surface inversion conditions, leading to an increase in airborne dust and particulate matter. (TNA)
