PATTAYA, Thailand – Winai Inpitak, Mayor of Nongprue, East Pattaya, chaired a meeting to prepare for the upcoming Mab Yai Lia Songkran Festival, scheduled to take place from April 15-18.
Mayor Winai emphasized that the Mab Yai Lia Songkran Festival has been a longstanding tradition, celebrated for over 100 years by local residents. In the past, community members organized and funded the festival independently, with support from local businesses. However, in recent years, the municipality has stepped in to provide financial support, allowing for a larger and more vibrant event.
For 2025, Nong Prue Municipality has allocated a budget of 600,000 baht to support the four-day festival, which will include:
April 15 – Sand Pagoda Building Day
April 16 – Traditional “Haab” Procession Day
April 17 – Water-Splashing Day (Wan Lai)
April 18 – “Kong Khao” Merit-Making Day
To ensure smooth organization and successful execution of the event, the first planning meeting was held, setting the stage for the preservation of local cultural traditions and making Mab Yai Lia a model community for cultural conservation.
