Pattaya will host the SUP & Surf Championships in Jomtien Beach March 10-13.
Kritsana Boonsawat, president of Pattaya SUP Sports Club, said the stand-up paddleboard event is organized with the Thailand Surfing Federation to boost tourism in Pattaya and develop local skills for paddleboarders.
The competition is divided into four categories: Youths 13 & younger, general, marathon and an event where bikinis and Speedos must be worn.
The highlight of the competition is the 16-kilometer marathon that will see competitors paddling from Jomtien Beach to Koh Krok.
More than 100 athletes from across the country have already agreed to participate in the competition.
The Pattaya SUP Sports Club also will send athletes to join a paddleboard competition in Kanchanaburi next week.
