CHONBURI, Thailand – A tiny pygmy hippopotamus named “Moo Deng” has become an internet sensation and the newest star attraction at Khao Kheow Open Zoo.

The name, which translates to “Bouncy Pork,” is a perfect fit for the playful calf who has stolen the hearts of animal lovers.

Born on July 10 to parents, Jonah and Tony, Moo Deng is the seventh offspring of the pair. The name was chosen through a public vote, with over 20,000 people selecting “Moo Deng” from a list of options.

The playful calf has become known for her energetic antics, often seen bounding around her enclosure and playfully nipping at her caretakers. Despite her mischievous nature, Moo Deng also has a softer side, enjoying gentle scratches and rubs.



The zoo has capitalized on Moo Deng’s popularity by preparing to launch a limited edition pair of pants, featuring the adorable hippo. The pants’ design has already garnered substantial interest from fans, requesting merchandise featuring other animals at the zoo. (TNA)
