Re: Pedestrian type advice (PM Friday, 10 July 201) – The notion, very popular, that non-natives must ‘accept the culture’ of whatever country they are in is politically correct and bankrupt of logic or intellectualism. It amounts to a not so subtle example of socially accepted blackmail and intimidation. It is not friendly or fun. I reserve the right to not accept the native culture. I have a social contract with the peoples of the world. I will consider meeting you halfway. Are most ‘native’ cultures capable of even understanding the value of this?
