Re: Councilman lobbies for Jomtien Beach erosion funds (PM Friday, 21 September 2012) – There have been some excellent studies on beach erosion. One classic study showed how the waves tend to come in on an angle, say 20 degrees to the shore, and sweep down the coast. What proved very effective was installing some perpendicular to the shore type of barriers extending outward. Does not impede water flow but does help catch the sand. Just piling rocks above the shore line does not do much. Wave erosion on lower portions is already done. I don’t see any science being applied here.
