Re: Taxing the churches (PM Friday, 28 December 2012) – I agree that the Churches should be held accountable and pay tax. But you must admit they do a fair job with their charities.
My biggest gripe is with big business. The average worker pays about 25% of his earnings to tax; big business, after writing everything off to advertising, etc., gets away with about 8%.
Why should the local minister be tax exempt? He chose this profession and collects a good sum of money for it. If an audit was done on the Vatican and spread their wealth the world would be a better place.
