Editor;
I know this is Thailand and things are different here but I was disappointed when I read your paper yesterday. I am talking about the short story about repainting the lines on Third road. I guess the excuse for the person who wrote that story is that he just wrote what this Mr. Pinyasinee was telling him but I still found the story to be racist. Saying he thought that “Thai” drivers would respect the lines … My feeling is that Thai drivers are amongst the worst I have ever met and I have been to 45 countries so far. Pattaya is also worse than Bangkok when it comes to traffic. I got angry when reading that story and just wanted to let you know that it will be the last time I buy your paper.

Ed’s reply: Sorry you feel this way, Nikko, but for the life of me I can’t figure out what you’re talking about. The whole point of the story was that the “Thai” drivers (as well as all other drivers) were not obeying the rules of the intersection, and maybe by repainting the lines they would start doing so. If you decide not to buy the paper again, that is of course your right. But one would hope that if this is your decision, you’d make it based on something with a little more substance than a non-existent slight to foreigners that you are wrongly calling racist.
