Re: GPS should only be used when stationary (PM Mailbag Friday, 02 October 2015) – British newspapers report: Man jumps from car as train bears down on it. It is said that GPS instructed him to turn onto the railroad track. Witnesses who live in the area say this is nothing new and happens often but not to this extent. Most drivers ignore the instruction and turn into the road after the crossing.
Police say if you don’t know the difference between a road and a railroad track, you should not be driving let alone staking your life on a system designed for use by certified navigators.
Some time a go a Japanese driver was told to drive to a position in the Pacific Ocean & in USA three women ended up in a lake. What happens when a local authority changes a road from a 2-way to a 1-way? The chances of your GPS knowing this are slim.
Love your GPS but don’t stake your life on it.
