Re: More illegal payments (PM Mailbag Friday, 16 January 2015) – There is a treaty that Thailand along with many western countries signed in 1949 allowing falangs to drive as long as (their license) is in English and is still valid. Now, to throw it to the other side of the equation, yes most of the “coppers” have no idea or just disregard this allowance and demand the payment. So, the question being, should a falang who is going to drive anything in Thailand have an international drivers license or risk it with their home license if they are from a country that is part of the treaty? I say drive on with the home license!
