Just to add, I had just come from Bangkok and travelled by taxi from Nonthaburi to Victory Monument BTS station, around 18 kilometres, for 200 baht including expressway toll. The driver was not worried about picking up another fare – 250 baht from Khaosan Road to Suvarnabhumi on the meter.
Just to let Sean know, all the cabs run on gas at 14-16 baht a litre. Like Dana said, if they used a bit more common sense and used the meter you wouldn’t see so many parked by the side of the road.
