Sir,
A piece of utterly meaningless and disingenuous garbage: “A salad sandwich is a snack. Slip in a piece of pig and it changes into a meal!” Since some billion people are lucky to get one snack in a day, this sort of fantasy is quite shameful especially in the face of the fact that the entire population could be well fed if it were vegetarian.
At the same time Dana (PM 8\11) is absolutely correct; sugar is far more harmful than meat. Most, if not all, vegetarians would agree. People usually become vegetarian out of compassion and respect for animals. Any health or other benefit is a bonus.
Leonardo da Vinci said, “There will come a time when men will look on the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men”. I think that just about sums it all up.
Yours,
Michael Nightingale
