Shut down the city?

Re: No big tour busses allowed (PM Mailbag Friday, 19 June 2015) – Bill, the “hundreds” I mentioned would include, for example, Dusit Thani, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Amari hotels, among many others. 4-5 star standing restaurants, Tiffany and other entertainment venues, and if busses are needed then get busses! They don’t all have to go to a specific destination, just the top 10, and the rest of the shuttles/busses run continuously on Beach & 2nd Roads. A small surcharge could, indeed be passed on to the passengers & the municipality could toss in a buck or two. The above are in the “hundreds” but I was simply saying it is workable even if the donors have to raise their prices/rates a little as they are in the cheapest semi resort area in Asia.

My comment is not, word for word, “etched in cement” but with variances and allowances is workable – Disney & several others in Florida and California did it over 40 years ago. Trucks on toll ways pay more then autos so tour busses could be surcharged as well. Maybe it is thousands, not hundreds, who would chip in and the baht bus drivers could drive the busses!

Shaking one’s head in disgust offers no solutions except, maybe, shut down the whole city.
