Just a thought about Songkran. This beautiful Thai ceremony has been reduced to idiocy, as celebrated by idiots on the streets, with their mindless “water fights” – particularly in Pattaya.
A brilliant documentary aired by HBO on Friday, 11 April, entitled “A Thirsty World” issued a clear warning: one BILLION people around the world do not have access to clean drinking water and, an even more ominous statistic states that 4,000 children per day, die, due to lack of clean water and its related implications.
Yet, the mindless rhinestone cowboys will squander thousands – or, perhaps, millions – of litres of water over the next few days, “to have fun…”
Just a thought.
