2 weeks ago I walked along Jomtien Beach Road from the entrance to Wat Boon Road and Soi 5, about a kilometre I think. As I tend to look down when I’m walking I couldn’t help but notice these all too frequent, square metre, holes in the new pavement, about a foot deep; and there wasn’t one bench to sit on along the route.
It’s since occurred to me that these holes could be filled in with concrete flower tubs, making sure that the bases were embedded with cement so that inconsiderate pedestrians couldn’t throw their refuse in the gaps in the holes; only amidst the flowers if they were that way inclined maliciously. I think the ‘facelift’ is an improvement but it’s still got a heck of a way to go.
