After reading the article: ‘Lower motorcycle taxi fares go into effect, likely ignored again by Pattaya drivers.’ Pattaya Mail, April 8, 2016, my sympathies lie firmly with these drivers: 5 baht a kilometre!? Often with passengers that weigh as much as the driver and his bike put together? In the UK we’d say ‘You’re ‘avin’ a larf, incha mate’? And only earning 300-500 baht a day in this sweltering heat?
I won’t use motorcycle taxis because I think they’re unsafe, but if there were little 1, 2, and 3-seater Tuk Tuk’s I would be tempted to use them at a rate of 20-30 baht a kilometre.
