One person died and another was severely injured when a group of Huay Yai youths fired 20 shots outside a Sattahip hotel.

Narongrit Rungsawang, a 24-year-old Khet Udomsak fireman, died at Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center June 2 after being shot twice in the abdomen. Nattapol Yukitphuti, 24, survived a single shot to the chest.

The shooting across Sukhumvit Road from the Ruethai Hotel occurred following an argument at a nearby pub between the victims and Huay Yai gang rival Niran Limchoey, 24. Witnesses said Niran and four others pursued the victims after they left the bar at closing and that Niran and one other assailant pulled 9mm and .45 caliber handguns and opened fire.

Police said an arrest warrant has been issued for Niran and that other suspects have been identified.
