More 100 parents of autistic children, teachers and public officials learned the educational challenges of special-needs kids and how to help them develop.

The July 23 workshop at Pattaya City Hall saw Deputy Mayor Wutisak Rermkitkarn and Social Welfare Department Director Pannee Limcharoen welcome speakers from the Chonburi Parents Club for Children with Autism, Pattaya Autistic Life Skills Development Center and Autistic Thai Foundation to help train the attendees.

“Based on disabled-programs registration, it’s clear Pattaya has a number of autistic, attention-deficit and impaired individuals who have never received medical or training services,” Wutisak said. “Therefore, the city has provided the initial help for parents of these children through organizing the training with full hopes that the attendees will have learnt and will implement their knowledge in creating activities to correctly and fully restore the potential of the autistic children including creating an understanding and the right attitudes towards autistic individuals.”
