Fourteen Pattaya City workers failed drug tests with one admitting to stealing 600,000 baht in electrical cable.
Banglamung District Chief Chakorn Kanchawattana launched the drug tests of Engineering Department employees May 4 after reports of workers smoking methamphetamines at a warehouse on Soi Tua-Ngok off Chaiyapornwitee Road.
District officials brought soldiers from the 14th Military Circle to the facility to find 30 employees there. All were drug tested with 14 found guilty of using meth.
One unidentified employee confessed to stealing copper wiring from the storage depot, causing about 600,000 baht in losses.
All were booked at Banglamung Police Station.
Police later raided the Jamnien Used Goods recycling shop on Chaiyapornwitee Road in Naklua and Supachai Used Goods in Nong Plalai.
None of the wiring was recovered, but officials found neither shop was licensed to buy electrical wiring. Managers Sriwilai Pajuang, 39, and Supachai Pornhomsin, 39, were arrested.
