Police rounded up 17 Thai and foreign beggars working the streets of Pattaya.
Seven Cambodian men and five women, along with four Thai men and one woman, were taken into custody Feb. 27. The Thais were fined and released while the Cambodians were sent to immigration authorities for deportation.
Pattaya police said they joined with Tourist Police Division officers as well as the Chonburi Immigration Office to crackdown on panhandlers who annoy tourists and rid the city of illegal migrants.
