Two people were killed and 14 injured when a motorist suffered a seizure and plowed his pickup truck through early morning traffic in South Pattaya.
Wuthichai Laokham, 21, and Sunaree Bumrungrad, 23, were pronounced dead at the scene of the 7 a.m. Dec. 4 accident at the Third and South roads intersection.
The injured included six adults, boys 6, 8, 10, 12 and 15-years-old, two 11-year-old girls and one 14-year-old girl. All the children were on motorbikes stopped at the traffic lights when the Isuzu pickup barreled into the junction.
A dog caught up in the carnage also died.
Driver Akorndej Udomrath, 44, was arrested on charges of reckless driving causing death and injury. He told police he suffered an epileptic seizure, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
Tests confirmed he had no alcohol in his system.
