Two people suffered minor injuries when the roof of a large Koh Larn restaurant collapsed.
Handbag seller Daeng Chuenarom, 60, was hit by roof tiles and another unidentified person sustained a cut ear in the Aug. 24 accident at the 400-sq.-meter Fu Long restaurant. Ten vendor stalls in front of the eatery also were damaged.
One witness told the police he saw about 10 people in the restaurant before hearing a sound like something broke and the roof collapsed.
Fu Long is more than 20 years old and Pattaya authorities ordered the owner to remove weak pillars and structures during the rebuild.
Officials suspected the roof’s metal supporting posts were damaged by ground shaking caused by construction at a nearby condominium tower.
