Two Pattaya schools and a nightclub popular with Thai locals have joined a royal campaign to keep youths away from drugs.
Pattaya schools No. 5 and No. 9 joined staff of the Idol Club Feb. 19 to announce they have joined the To Be No. 1 campaign.
The To Be No. 1 Foundation was set up by HRH Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya to help keep Thailand’s youth away from drugs. Through clubs, dance competitions and other events, the foundation works to educate youths about the dangers of drugs and give them productive ways to spend their free time.

Khanittha Jarawitrattanakul, owner of the Idol Club, said she joined the campaign as she admits her pub in a high-risk venue for youths in their 20s and employees.
“If we clearly make the announcement that we are a drug-free zone, everybody will notice and think of how much trouble it may cause them if they use drugs,” she said.
