Police raided three game booths set up for the Pattaya Music Festival that allegedly were fronts for illegal gambling.
Officers rushed to Beach Road near Soi 6, a few blocks from a main music festival stage, to find target shooting, balloon dart and slingshot games allowing wagers for cash prizes. Operators Pornpit Getkhong, 42, Roongpet Jeenpong, 49, and Nungluedee Maneejan, 27, were arrested.
Police said several other booth operators suspected of also running gaming booths and selling counterfeit goods managed to escape.
Chonburi Gov. Khomsan Ekachai had issued orders for authorities to closely monitor the festival area for illegal gambling.
Evidently these types of booths are illegal here – police raided several during the music festival and arrested the operators.
