About 300 people working on Walking Street rolled up their sleeves again for yet another Covid-19 booster shot.

Banglamung District Chief Pisit Sirisawadnukul and Walking Street Community President Sukarach Kanla observed the vaccination drive Jan. 8 at the Chaba 88 Café.

The doses of the original 2021 Pfizer vaccine are meant to provide extra protection against the coronavirus as tourists arrived from Covid-19 riddled China, where tens of millions of cases and more than 1,000 official deaths are being reported daily.

The original vaccine has been shown to be largely ineffective against the omicron variant and its successive subvariants. Thailand’s government has failed to procure the updated vaccine formulas that target the omicron and delta variants with shipments not expected to arrive in the country until next year.
